How does the therapy process usually work?

Therapy can be a great opportunity to get help by gaining an outside professional perspective from an unbiased/neutral third party who isn't involved in your personal life. Having a connection or establishing a "therapeutic alliance" with your therapist is key to benefitting from counseling. It's important to establish that connection in the beginning, so we recommend 4-6 sessions at least once a week at first and then we evaluate progress. The first session is where the issue(s) are identified, background info is obtained, and general goals are set. If this is for an adolescent, then we recommend meeting first with the parent(s) to get their perspective.
